River Valley Riders enriches the lives of children and adults with special needs by providing equine assisted activities and therapies, including therapeutic horseback riding and carriage driving lessons. Our program helps participants gain self-confidence and self-esteem, build strength, improve balance and hand-eye coordination, while forming meaningful relationships.
Thank you for your interest in River Valley Riders. Lessons for Spring 2017 are now full. To join the waiting list for Summer and Fall openings, please download and complete the Medical History/Physician's Statement and Emergency Contact/Liability Release forms. To receive these forms by mail, please email us or call 651-439-2558, leaving a message with your name and contact information. Someone will return your call within 48 hours. Lessons are held May through October at two locations - Afton and Scandia. Students on the waiting list with all completed paperwork will be contacted to fill temporary and permanent lesson times.
Due to safety concerns for the rider/driver, volunteers and horses, the rider’s weight and balance may limit participation, the site selection, and hour for riding. Due to safety concerns for the rider/driver and following PATH Intl. recommendations, the minimum age to participate is 4 years old.
A licensed medical provider must sign the Medical History/Physician's Statement form.
